Who this is for: anyone who wants to change a setting, move cities, mute a reminder, or leave unplan. Everything here lives under the Us tab.
The Us tab at a glance
At the top, the couple card shows both of you, and Paired since a date with how many plans you have done.
If you see A new version is ready with Reload, tap Reload to get the latest version of the app. It never reloads by itself.

At the bottom you will find Privacy, Terms, Help and Guide, which open the pages on unplan.me. Guide is the knowledge base: this guide, on the web.
Shared guardrails
Tap Shared guardrails to change your home base, radius, budget, getting around, food rules (including No alcohol) and free nights. Both of you see changes as they happen. See getting started for what each one means.
Tap Save when you are done. The screen says Changes apply from the next sealed plan.
Language
Open Units & time. Under Language, choose Automatic, English or Español.
- Automatic uses your phone’s language if unplan has it. If not, it uses your city’s language, then English.
- Your choice is yours alone. Your partner keeps their own.
- A sealed plan is one text that you both read. It is written in the language you both share. If you do not share one, the plan text is in English, and everything else stays in your own language.
- Changing the language does not rewrite a plan that is already sealed. Next week’s plan follows your new setting.
- Some things are only in English: the unplan.me website, the sign-in code email, emails to venues, and our privacy and terms pages.
Units and clock
Open Units & time.
- In US cities, distances show in miles and times use the 12-hour clock.
- In London, distances show in miles and times use the 24-hour clock.
- In other cities, distances show in kilometres and times use the 24-hour clock.
- You can change either one. Under Distance, choose Miles or Kilometres. Under Clock, choose 12-hour or 24-hour. Tap Done.
The sheet says: Only changes how things look to you. Your partner keeps their own setting.
Your choice applies in the app and in the emails we send you.
Notifications
Open Notifications. The screen says At most five a week. Push and email for the same moment count as one.
At the bottom the screen also says your city’s quiet hours, as in Quiet hours: nothing reaches your phone between 10 PM and 8 AM, your city’s time. A reminder due in that window waits until the morning.
Five a week covers the regular reminders. Some things come on top because you need them: plan changes, a table being held or falling through, a double date being accepted, receipts and account emails.
Channels
- Push notifications turns push on or off for every phone where you allowed them.
- Optional email turns off the optional emails: partner voted, last call, leave in 20, afterglow and city news.
If a push to your phones fails (a phone was reset, or notifications were turned off on it), the same message comes by email instead. It still counts as one of the five. With Optional email off, the optional ones do not.
At night
News that can wait does not buzz your phone at night. Between 10 PM and 8 AM (your city’s time; your city may set other hours) a push like “Maya has voted”, a nudge, your plan opening or the afterglow question arrives at 8 AM instead. Its email, if it has one, still comes straight away. The Thursday plan and anything about tonight’s date (leave in 20, a change of plan, a cancelled plan) always come at once.
This phone
Notifications on this phone shows one of:
- On
- Set up: tap it to add unplan to your home screen and allow notifications.
- Blocked: your phone is blocking them. See troubleshooting.
- Not available: this browser cannot show notifications.
- Email for now: your plans reach you by email.
Each week
Each row shows how it reaches you: Push + email, Push, Email or Off.
| Reminder | Can you switch it off? |
|---|---|
| Thursday teaser | No. It always comes, and always by email as well. |
| Partner voted or last call | Yes. This one switch also covers the note that your partner has voted, a last call, and a nudge from your partner. |
| Both in: your night opens | No. It always comes. |
| Leave in 20 minutes | Yes. This one switch also covers the note that a free at-home plan has landed. |
| How was it? | Yes. This is the Sunday afterglow question. |
| A small idea each week | Yes. One gesture idea for your partner, the day before your plan drops. It comes on top of the five, by push only (or on This week). |
When you switch a reminder off, it stops on every channel. A muted reminder does not use up one of your five. A row you have muted shows Off.
Everything else can never be muted: the Thursday teaser, the message that replaces it when your rules are too tight, Both in, Plan B, receipts, and mail about your account.
The screen ends with: The Thursday teaser, your night opening and receipts always come.
Your date style
Us → Your date style shows the quick cards you answered, the week’s new card when there is one, and Delete my answers. Only you see them; they nudge your plans and never change your rules. See date night and interests.
Your idea box
Know a place you’d both enjoy, like the little bar you keep walking past? Us → Your idea box lets you suggest it. Write The place (its name), and if you like Where it is and Why you’d like it, then tap Send the idea.
- One idea a month each. A second one in the same month says One idea a month. The next one opens on the 1st.
- We check it like every place we suggest. Under Your ideas you see where each one stands: We’re checking it, On our list: it may turn up in a plan, or Not a fit for now.
- Once it is on our list, it can turn up in one of your plans. It still follows your rules (distance, budget, food rules, no alcohol, free nights), it is still one plan and one last call, and it stays sealed until you both say yes.
- It stays a surprise. Your partner never sees your ideas, so if it turns up, they find out at the reveal.
- Take it back removes an idea we are still checking (it asks first). Unpairing or deleting your account deletes your ideas, and Download my data includes them.
Plan night
Plan night shows when your sealed plan arrives: Thursday, 6:00 PM in your city’s time and your clock format. The weekday follows your date night: it is always two days before it, so a Saturday date night is a Thursday drop and a Wednesday one is a Monday drop. You change your date night in Shared guardrails (see your date night); this row only shows the result.
Tap Plan night to put the drop in your own calendar: Never miss the drop. offers Add to my calendar (a file your phone’s calendar opens) and Google Calendar. It is a weekly entry at 6 PM your city’s time on your drop day, so it costs you no notification. If you change your date night, add it again: the day moves with it.
Changing your city
Your city follows your home base.
- Tap Us, then Shared guardrails.
- Tap Home base and search for a neighbourhood or street. Type at least three letters.
- Pick a result.
Your partner sees the change, because guardrails are shared. Plans start from the new home base from the next sealed plan.
If the new home base is in a city where unplan is open, you are done.
If it is not, the app tells you: We’re not planning dates there yet, or the name of the city, which opens soon. Then it shows the waitlist, Not in your city yet.
- Check your email and city.
- Tap Join the list. You will see You’re on the list.
- We email you the week unplan opens near you. You can tap Change city or email to change what you gave us, and your partner can join the list too.
While your home base is outside every open city, the app shows the waitlist in place of your weekly plan. To go back, set your home base back in a city that is open. You can reach it from the waitlist screen, and from Us → Shared guardrails.
To leave the waitlist, use the unsubscribe link in any email from us.
Unpairing
Tap Us, then Unpair from your partner’s name.
- The app asks Unpair from your partner ? It explains that your partner is asked too.
- Tap Ask to unpair, or Stay paired to stop.
- You are unpaired when your partner confirms, or automatically after 7 days without an answer.
While you wait, the row says Waiting for your partner. Tap it to Cancel the request if you change your mind. Your partner sees a note on This week, and their row says your name asked: tapping it asks them to Confirm unpair, or Not now.
After you unpair, you no longer get plans as a couple. Your votes and ratings stay private. You can pair with someone new using a fresh link. Both of you get an email when it is done.
Leaving at once or changing partner
You never need your partner’s permission to leave. Tap Us, then Leave or change partner.
- Leave now ends the couple at once, with no 7-day wait.
- Leave and pair with someone new does the same, then opens Pair with a fresh link.
- Turn on Also block your partner if you don’t want them to pair with you or email you a pairing link again. They aren’t told.
Your partner is told only that you left. If you were paying for Keep the Spark, it stops; your partner keeps the time already paid.
If your partner hasn’t opened unplan for a while, Us and This week say so, and offer the same ways out, or Keep waiting.
When your partner leaves
If your partner leaves, unpairs or deletes their account, you keep your own account and start a new couple of one, ready for a new pairing link.
- Keep the Spark stays on for you until the end of the time already paid.
- Once, you’re offered a fresh start: a year of Keep the Spark at the early-adopter price. You’ll find it in Us.
- Your email says both.
Your past journal
For 30 days after a split, either of you can tap Us → Your past journal to save your journal as a file: your dates, the places of plans you both said yes to, your own afterglow answers and links to the photos. After 30 days the journal and its photos are deleted.
Away, light mode and moving
- Away: tap Us → Away, pick how many weeks (up to 12) and Pause plans. No plans come in those weeks and your streak is kept. Your partner sees it on This week. Plans as usual again ends it early.
- Light mode: tap Us → Light mode, pick 1 to 8 weeks and Turn on. Plans keep coming, but easy ones: close to home, the lowest budget and one stop. Your settings don’t change, and normal plans come back on their own.
- Moving: change your home base in Shared guardrails. If your new city isn’t open yet, you both join its waitlist and we tell you when it opens.
Bringing company
Want friends or family along this week? Tap Us → Company this week before the plan is made, pick how many of you there will be (up to 8) and Save. We pick places that seat everyone and ask for a table for all of you. Each couple pays its own way. Guest couples you invite after the reveal are added on their own.
Circles
A circle is a few couples who plan things together. Tap Us → Circles, give it a name and Start the circle.
- Inviting: in the circle, tap Invite a couple and send the link. When a couple asks to join, every couple in the circle sees who they are (names, how long they’ve been together, their city, circles in common) and says yes or no. They join once every couple says yes.
- Events: tap Plan an event. Each couple answers for the two of you. Others only see who is going. If there is a cost, each couple pays its own share in the app, or you can pay another couple’s share as a gift. If the event is cancelled, paid shares are refunded.
- Leaving: Leave the circle at any time. The couple that started it can remove a couple or end the circle.
Kids
When it is switched on, Us → Kids keeps how many children you have in each age group, and nothing else: no names, no birthdays. When you set Company this week, unplan asks Bring the kids? With them, you get places that welcome children their age, never bars, and the venue sees only “2 adults, 2 kids aged 6–12”. Your circles never see your kids.
More than one couple
You can be in up to three couples, one with each partner. Each couple has its own plan, votes, rules and payment. Tap Us → Pair with someone else to start another, and Your couples to switch between them. The app shows one couple at a time. Plans for two couples never land on the same night.
Voting from email
If you’d rather not use the app every week, turn on Us → Vote from email. Your weekly plan email then has a Vote here, no app needed link. Open it, choose Yes or Not this one, and tap Send my vote. Your partner still only sees that you voted.
Bringing a friend on your own
After your plan opens, the group-date sheet has Invite a friend instead (a plus-one). Send the link. Your friend joins the date on their own, and the table is held for one more.
Lost access to your old account
Sign in with your new email, then on Pair tap Lost access to your old account? and type the email you used before. If it was paired, your partner is asked to confirm it’s you. Once they do, sign in again with your new email: your old account, history and partner are all there. Without a partner, write to support.
If your partner asks you, you’ll see {name} lost their sign-in in Us. Tap It’s them only if you’re sure.
Getting back together
If you pair again with someone you were with before, Us asks Bring back your journal and streak? When you both say yes, your old journal, streak and couple come back.
Blocking
Tap Us → Blocked to see the people you blocked, and Unblock to undo it. A blocked person’s pairing link to you reads as no longer working, and an email they try to send you through unplan never arrives. They aren’t told.
Signing out
Tap the Signed in with row. Its value reads Sign out. The app asks Sign out? and says your plans stay safe, so you can sign back in with the same email any time. Tap Sign out to confirm, or Stay signed in.
Signing out also removes this phone’s notification setup and its saved copy of your plan. When you sign back in, check Us → Notifications to make sure this phone is set up again.
Downloading your data
Tap Download my data. The app saves a file named like unplan-export-2026-10-12.json, with the date of the day you download it.
It holds your own data: your account, your rules, your plans, your own votes and ratings, your photos, your notification settings, the thank-yous you sent and received, your own ideas and what you have paid. It never includes your partner’s votes or ratings, and it never shows a venue before you have both said yes.
You can download a few times an hour. If you hit the limit, the app says to try again in an hour.
Deleting your account
Tap Us, then Delete my account and data. It takes two steps, so you cannot do it by accident.
- Step 1 of 2: Delete your account? It removes your personal data (your votes, afterglow answers and your sign-in), and unpairs you from your partner, who can download your shared journal for 30 days. Tap Continue.
- Step 2 of 2: This can’t be undone. Tap Delete my account and data to confirm, or Keep my account.
What to know:
- A Keep the Spark subscription stops when you delete your account; your partner keeps the time already paid.
- Your account, votes, ratings, notification tokens and your analytics profile are deleted within 30 days.
- Your partner is told you have left, not why. Leaving ends the couple, as unpairing does: your partner can download your journal and its photos for 30 days, then they are deleted.
- We keep payment records for as long as tax law requires.
- You get an email to confirm.
