The problem
Friday, 6 PM. “What do you want to do?” Forty-five minutes of maps, reviews and reels. Takeout and a show, again. A quiet “we should get out more.”
You’re not lazy and you’re not bored of each other. You’re two people with full weeks, and by Friday the deciding is the hard part. Search apps make it worse: a thousand options is a chore, not a treat.
What we believe
- One plan, one alternative. Never a list. Choice is the problem. You get a plan and, if one of you vetoes, exactly one last call.
- Guardrails are hard limits. Budget, distance, how you get around, food rules, free nights. We never suggest a night you can’t actually do.
- Surprise without risk. The card says mood, cost, timing and dress. Never where. You can say yes with confidence and still be surprised on the night.
- Your vote is yours. Nobody, including your partner, sees how you voted or how you rated the night. That’s what makes it honest.
- Tuned to the less keen partner. The plan optimises for whichever of you is less into it, so the same person doesn’t keep compromising.
- Quiet. Five notifications a week at most. No feed, no streaks to protect with taps.
What that gets you
- No deciding. Thursday, 6 PM, a card. Two taps. Done.
- One surprise plan a week, built for the two of you from real places open that night, within your rules.
- Both of you say yes before anyone commits. A plan only opens on two yeses, so neither of you is dragged along.
- The admin’s done. Times, calendar invites, directions. On paid plans, the table’s held.
- It gets better. Sunday’s private answers tune next Thursday.
- A journal of nights out, not a list of tabs you never opened.
Our privacy promise
Votes and ratings are private, even from your partner. Your partner sees the shared guardrails, that you voted, the plan once you’ve both said yes, and the journal photo. Never how you voted, your rating, or anything you tell support.
No ad trackers and no cookies to accept. Your home base is a point on the map, not your address. The language model that writes the card never sees your name, email or home base. A venue that holds your table gets a first name, the party size and the time. What your partner can see, in full →
Who it’s not for
- Couples who want to browse. There’s no directory and no search. If scrolling is the fun part, you’ll miss it here.
- Anyone outside Phoenix, Boston, Austin and San Francisco, for now. Join the waitlist for your city.
- One person alone. unplan does nothing until both of you are paired.
- Planning one specific night. We plan your free night each week. “Just this weekend” opens this week’s premium plan; it doesn’t book a Tuesday. See pricing.
- Anyone under 18.
