Your date night, plan format and shared interests

Who this is for: couples who want their sealed plan on a different night, a shorter date, or a plan that leans towards what they both enjoy.

Open Us, then Shared guardrails. All three settings sit on the same screen as your other rules, and both of you see changes as they happen.

Your date night

Thursday at 6 PM is when the sealed plan drops, because most couples go out on a Saturday. If your usual night is different:

  1. Under Nights you’re usually free, pick every night you can go out. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are on the first row, Monday to Thursday under them.
  2. Under Your date night, pick one of those free nights. It is Saturday until you choose another. Only your free nights are offered.

The screen then tells you what it means. For a Wednesday date night: Your sealed plan arrives Monday evening and the vote closes Tuesday evening. The plan always drops two days before your date night at 6 PM, and the vote closes the evening before. A Saturday date night is the Thursday drop and the Friday vote you already know.

Everywhere the app says “Thursday” it follows your own drop day: the countdown on This week, the skip dialog, the notifications screen, Us, Plan night, and the install and Keep the Spark screens.

If you un-tick the free night you chose as your date night, your date night goes back to Saturday in the same save. If a save is ever refused because the date night is not one of your free nights, the screen says That date night isn’t one of your free nights, so it wasn’t saved. Pick a free night as your date night, or add this one to your free nights, and tap Retry.

Changes apply from the next sealed plan.

Plan format

Under Plan format:

  • A full night: one to three stops, as usual.
  • A quick date (one stop, about 90 minutes): one stop, any night, a good fit for a busy week.

Everything else is the same: the plan is sealed, you vote privately, and there is one last call.

Shared interests

Under Shared interests you can pick up to 12 of 24 things you both enjoy, such as live music, cocktails, hiking, museums, comedy or quiet places. These are things you both enjoy, never a hard limit. unplan leans towards them when it picks your plan, but your real limits (radius, budget, getting around, food rules, no alcohol and free nights) always come first and are never broken. If you pick a 13th, the screen asks you to take one off first.

Your date style

Right after you lock in your guardrails, the app shows up to five quick cards: Your date style · 1 of 5, a small situation (“It is a rainy evening. What sounds best?”) and a few answers. Tap the one that sounds most like you and the next card comes. Skip this one skips a card; Skip for now goes on to the next step.

  • Only you see your answers. Your partner never does, and nobody at unplan reads them.
  • They nudge your plans your way. They never change your rules: radius, budget, food rules, no alcohol and free nights stay exactly as you set them.
  • After that, This week shows one new card a week (One more about you), so the picture fills in slowly.
  • Us → Your date style shows what you picked, the week’s card when there is one, and Delete my answers.

At home: order in

When a week lands at home, the plan is still one idea. Sometimes it is a takeout pick: Order in tonight: Thai. It is one cuisine, never a restaurant, and it respects your food rules.

Ideas for the season. Some at-home ideas belong to your city and the time of year: a candle-and-soup evening in a Riga winter, a winter-warmers cook in London. In the dark months we pick those first; the rest of the year you get ideas that suit the season.
