Most weekends away die in a shared document. Two people, forty open tabs, and by the time a decision is made the cheap dates are gone.
Decide the shape, not the details
Agree on three things only: how far you will travel, what you will spend, and one thing you each want (a long lunch, a lie-in, a swim). Everything else can be somebody else's job.
Give the deciding to one person
Take turns. This trip, one of you plans and the other only gets the clues: when to leave, what to pack, what it costs. Next trip, swap. It is the same trick as a sealed plan, and it works for the same reason.
Book one anchor, leave the rest loose
One booked thing per day is enough: a dinner, a class, a tour. The rest of the time is for wandering. A packed itinerary turns a weekend into a project.
If you would rather nobody had to plan it, we now put together travel packages with Viator.
